A Botanical Escape in Huntington
Some spaces ask to be transformed. This Huntington powder room was one of them. A small room with just enough wall space to become something completely immersive.
The client wanted a chinoiserie-inspired mural: sweeping branches, butterflies, birds, and botanicals wrapping the room in a warm, golden atmosphere. We wanted to push ourselves technically. So we did both.
For the first time, we incorporated Meta Quest VR headsets into our workflow, using them during the layout and outline phase to visualize scale and composition in real space before a single brushstroke hit the wall. For a tightly proportioned room like this, that kind of spatial planning made all the difference. It's a tool we're going to keep reaching for.
The mural itself was painted entirely by hand. Every branch, every petal, every wing. But the room didn't stop there. The mirror frame was refinished and hand-painted to carry the mural's palette, and the sconces were refinished as well, tying the whole environment together. When everything is installed, you won't see a room with a mural in it. You'll see a room that is the mural.
If you've been thinking about transforming a space in your home — large or small we'd love to talk.
